We look forward to many years of sharing and growing in the faith with Deacon Glenn and his wife Laura and thank God for the blessings he has brought into our church lives with his dedication and enthusiasm. Laura makes a dang good lemon cake too!!!
Deacon Glenn for a year or more served both St. John in Pawnee and St. Francis in Stillwater and is now serving St. Francis Parish in Stillwater, OK and Catholic Charities. We do thank him for his warmth, friendship, care and service.
|Dear Parishioners of Saint John The Evangelist,
My name is Glenn Collum and I write this letter to introduce my family and myself to you. For the past five years, I have been engaged in the Diaconal Formation Program to study and discern God's call to Holy Orders as a permanent Deacon in the Diocese of Tulsa. My wife of 33 years, Laura, and I are very humbled to be among 10 other men and their spouses in discerning God's call to service within his Church.
Laura and I have two grown daughters, Ginger and Ashley. Ginger and her husband Chad and their son Grayson, our first grandchild, live in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Ashley and her husband Doug, live in Oklahoma City, and recently announced that they are expecting their first child in late April of 07. Believe me, being grandparents is truly a blessing and grandkids are so much fun!
We are members of Saints Peter and Paul parish of Cushing. I am involved with helping facilitate the RCIA program, as Lector and as Eucharistic Minister. As I become more involved into the parish community of Pawnee, I look forward to offering my services to you, the parishioners of St. John, in these same capacities as well.
Professionally, I work for a Tulsa based energy marketing company where I have worked for 23 years in the crude oil pipeline land management business and currently, I am manager of Land Management and Environmental. It is a very challenging job, but God has been good to us, as Laura is now able to be at home where she loves spending time with our grandson. Also, Laura volunteers at a crisis pregnancy center, BirthChioce, in Stillwater.
This is my last year of theological studies for the diaconate and God willing, I will be ordained in May of 2007, along with my nephew, Gary Kastl, who is a seminarian for the priesthood at St. Meinrad, Indiana. I look forward to assisting him as he serves his first Mass as a priest for our diocese. Laura and I are honored to be of service to you at St. John in Pawnee. We look forward on meeting and getting to know everyone. As part of my last year of Theological and Pastoral training I will be calling each of you to offer my assistance to the parish community of Pawnee. I humbly ask that you pray for my family, and me and know that you all are in my prayers as well.
In God's Peace,
Glenn and Laura Collum
