Subject: Re: Duplicate message id's
The bug has been fixed in Eudora v4.2, which is currently in (public) beta
test. So, if you have a mind to use beta software, you can go to
http://www.eudora.com/ and pick up the 4.2 beta which will fix the
problem.
Also, we have some details on the problem. It seems to be triggered
by reopening a queued or saved message and then queuing it. We
believe it will not happen with a message that you edit, queue and
send without first closing and reopening it. This may explain the
intermittency you've been noticing.

To Change the FROM Field: Some providers use one email address to send
email and another for receiving email. You may have to change
what Eudora sends as FROM or set up two
subscriptions, one for sending, set to NOMAIL, and one for receiving, set to MAIL.
Listserv does not seem to recognize Reply-To in messages, only the FROM field when it checks to see if the sender is authorized to send commands or posts.
To change the FROM field:
- Open the "Special" menu and select the "Settings" option
- Go to the "Getting Started" Category on the left.
- In the text field marked "POP account" ensure that the entry meets the following protocol: userid@domain
- Once entered, click on OK to close the settings window. Check for new mail (CTRL M)

Eudora 3.0
To Change the FROM Field: Some providers use one email address to send
email and another for receiving email. You may have to change
what Eudora sends as FROM or set up two
subscriptions, one for sending, set to NOMAIL, and one for receiving, set to MAIL.
Listserv does not seem to recognize Reply-To in messages, only the FROM field when it checks to see if the sender is authorized to send commands or posts.
To change the FROM field:
- Open the "Tools" menu and select "Options"
- Go to the "Getting Started" Category on the left.
- In the text field marked "POP account" ensure that the entry meets the following protocol: userid@domain
- Once entered, click on OK to close the settings window. Check for new mail (CTRL M)
To keep Eudora from sending messages with HTML tags in them:
- Don't use any formatting (bold, underline, italics, right or center justification,
font choice or size, etc) when composing the message.
This goes for both the body of the message AND the signature; formatting in
either location will cause the ENTIRE message to be sent with HTML
formatting.
- Don't insert graphics into your message or signature.
- Don't insert horizontal lines (EDIT->INSERT->HORIZONTAL LINE) into
your message or signature.
- Go to TOOLS then to OPTIONS then to EXTRA WARNINGS and check the box
labeled "WARN ME WHEN I QUEUE MESSAGES WITH STYLED TEXT"
or just:
Open TOOLS then OPTIONS then MISCELLANEOUS and select
DISCARD STYLES BEFORE SENDING MESSAGES
To Change The ">" Character When Forwarding:
- Close Eudora
- Open your Eudora.ini file (in the same directory as your Eudora.exe file) with a text editor such as Notepad.
- Put in the following line in the [Settings] section: QuotePrefix=
just like that, nothing after the =
- Save your Eudora.ini file
- Start up Eudora.
Viewing Full Headers: On occassion, you or your subscribers will need to view
full headers - often of private email you find abusive and want to send to the sender's abuse@domain,postmaster@domain and root@domain. You won't be able to view full headers in posts to the list unless you have FULLHDR in the default-options= part of your list's header. Always send full headers when complaining about abusive, harrassing email or email spam.
To View Full Headers of an email,
open the message. Under the
title bar are four options. The second from
the left is a box which says "Blah, Blah,
Blah." Click on that and all headers will be
shown.
Eudora Light for Windows:
To retrieve the extended headers from an e-mail message received in Eudora Light (version
1.5.x), select Tools from the menu bar and click on Options...Having selected Options... , the Options Dialogue box will appear. From the
Category list on the left, select the Fonts&Display -- you will see a series of
checkbox options-- to show the extended headers described in this article, you
need only make sure the Show all headers (even the ugly ones) is selected. The
next time you open a new mail message the full headers should be readily
available. Keep in mind, if you are like most casual e-mail readers you probably
don't want to see all this techspeak mumble jumble every time your best friend
writes you to see how your doing. To get back to just the basic headers, you need
only to uncheck the same box. The next time you open a new message things
should be right back the way they were.
Eudora Light v3.0 for Windows:
If you happen to be using the newest version of Eudora Light or Eudora Pro for Windows,
showing extended headers is simply a matter of clicking the BLAH button on your incoming
message's toolbar. Clicking it again will hide the extended headers.
Eudora Light for the Mac OS:
To show all headers on an incoming e-mail message in Eudora Light for the Mac
OS, click the BLAH button on that message's toolbar.
Eudora 4.x
To keep Eudora 4.X from sending messages with HTML tags in them:
- On the menu, select Tools, then Options.
- Click Styled Text.
- Click "Send plain text only"
- Click OK
