Follows are some of the most popular of the free web based email program problems and fixes. There are so many services now, impossible to place them all, but if anyone has any problems and fixes, please, email them to me, and I'll place them on page, with or without attributes at your pleasure.
go to PREFERENCES
go down to "Message Sending" Header
Compose Message Window Size: make sure this at least 70
Reply: select "Don't include original message"
Forwarding: select "In-line quoted text"
CLICK ON SAVE BUTTON
HOTMAIL TO DISABLE OR CHANGE QUOTING, MARGINS, ECT.:
"Line Width" make 72
"Including Original Text (Replying)" make "manual"
CLICK OK BUTTON
* when sending mail.. make SURE no stationary added
MAIL.COM
on "Include original messages when replying?" select "NO"
on "Wrap messages when sending?" Select "Yes, wrap at 76 characters" and change the 76 to 70.
CLICK OK BUTTON
* when sending mail.. make SURE "Request a Return Receipt." is NOT selected!

unclick or deselect "Quote original message:"
* when sending mail, make SURE "send as html" and "Read Receipt" are NOT clicked/selected!
* when replying.. if quotes in reply.. either right click inside message box then click on "select all" and hit delete key, or highlight unwanted parts of quotes and hit the delete key [Windows95]

go to "Mail Preferences"
go down to the header "Mail Viewing Preferences"
then go down to the header " Message Actions"

When sending mail, make SURE "plain text" is clicked/selected and "html tags allowed" is not clicked/selected

To change line width, and quoting in replies and quoting symbols in forwards:

TO CHANGE FROM RICHTEXT TO PLAIN TEXT
Using EXPLORER: in the reply, compose and/or forward windows, at the bottom of the "header [to: subject: so on] there is a little pull down menu called "tools"
pull that down.. then click on "RICH-TEXT EDITOR OFF" .. that will change it to "RICH-TEXT EDITOR ON" [giving the option to turn it back on] and get rid of the rich-text editing tools.
