Father Matt was ordained in 2004 and celebrated his first mass if Thanksgiving ever at Holy Family Cathedral in Tulsa the day after his ordination where he had been a member of the parish for three years before he bagan his studies for the priesthood.
After finishing his studies in Rome and returning with a Licentiate in Patristics (advanced degree in study of the history and theology of early Christianity) Father Matt went to Holy Family as his first parish assignment. According to Msgr. Gregory Gier, Pastor and Rector of Holy Family Cathedral, Father Matt's work on the restoration and reconstruction of the Cathedral was diligent and devoted and his presence at the altar and pulpit of Holy Family as well as his dedication to the sick and hospitalized would be sorely missed by the Holy Family Parish.
Father Matt is also on the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Tulsa as is Father Kenneth Iheanacho, Pastor of St. Monicas and St. Augustine's in Tulsa, who has long assisted in bringing the mass to St. John's.
Father celebrated his first mass at St. John The Evangelist in Pawnee on Saturday, July 19, 2008 and his last Mass June 24, 2012 before moving on to his new assignment as Pastor of St. Henry Parish, Owasso, OK.
