He was ordained, along with his friend and former Deacon for St. John the Evangelist, Deacon Glenn Collum, May, 2007. He is serving as a Deacon for Saints Peter and Paul, Cushing and Saint Mary, Drumright & Prison Ministry, and is the director of prison ministry for the Diocese of Tulsa. Deacon Kenny is donating one Sunday, every other month, to serve our Parish here in Pawnee and has for many years stepped in when needed here.. He bases his ministry on saying yes to God. He said yes when God asked him to join the Catholic Church. He said yes to the diaconate. Yes to becoming the diocesan assessor of the Marriage Tribunal. Yes to directing RCIA, teaching religious education, counseling parishioners, visiting the dying and homebound. Most Rev. Edward Slattery, the Bishop of Tulsa said, “By his service to the Church, Kenny is one of those people who makes the presence of the Church easy for others to see.” Perhaps no one sees his light better than the men of Cimarron Correctional Facility. As part of his work in prison ministry, Longbrake created a Prison Religious Education Program, which is now being adopted by other dioceses, and has brought several inmates into the Church.
